Once a week I like to keep the readers of this blog informed on the local news and happenings around Mahahual and Costa Maya. I know some readers own property or live in Mahahual during the winter months and like to keep up with what is going on, and the latest news.

Most of the news in Mahahual is written in Spanish in the newspapers or on websites so I have to translate. I keep the articles intact and I translate in proper context, so it may be hard to read and understand, but keep in mind Spanish is a very descriptive language. I have learned that the Spanish language sometimes takes a lot of words to say something very basic. In the newspaper articles I read a lot, it seems the journalists are trying to write a book instead of just reporting the facts like we are used to in the USA. What else I find funny about Mexican newspapers is most of them have a centerfold with a pretty woman in a bikini with a layout and information like a Playboy bunny, you don’t see that in the USA.

I think these two articles I am posting today are very interesting concerning Mahahual’s future, and gives readers an insight into the emphasis and development of tourism in Mahahual.
