I wrote an article last month on all the improvments going on in Mahahual now, and all the plans for the future. I took some people on a tour of the malecon, and here as some photos of the work going on the south end of the malecon.
They are building a seawall and grading the road and extending the malecon south to include some of the dive shops, hotels, and restaurants on the south end of town.
The Mexican government is investing money to improve the infrastructure around Mahahual, in hopes of increasing tourism in the future. This is the third stage of the malecon construction.
