Tour of Costa Maya and Mahahual, “La Deuxieme Partie”

Day two of our tour of Mahahual and Costa Maya started with breakfast on the beach at Big Mamas on the malecon. After breakfast we set out on a tour of some houses and apartments we had set up the day before with Costa Maya Real Estate.

After breakfast, we went and picked up Monica at the office and we took a tour of some houses and apartments in New Mahahual. We looked at some houses to buy and also some apartments to rent. Dianne wants to come done in January and spend a month in Mahahual before she buys.

After looking at houses and apartmentswe also took a tour of the malecon and looked at some condos that are for sale, and also some under construction at the moment. They really liked the malecon and the beach in Mahahual.

We spent all day looking around and I introduced Dianne and Edith to some of the people I know in Mahahual, and evryone was friendly and welcomed them to Mahahual.

That day, November 5, was also Dianne’s birthday, so at night we decided to go some where to celebrate her birthday. I had noticed earlier walking around the malecon that Fernando had opened a new place on the malecon Fernando’s 100% Aguave. I had been to Fernando’s other place quite a lot, and I thought that the women might get a kick meeting “Don” Fernando.

So after a day of looking at property and condos, swimming and hanging out at the beach, we went out to celebrate Dianne’s birthday. I was correct Fernanado has opened a new restaurant on the beach and we stopped there. I have known Fernando the whole time I have been in Mahahual, and the first five months I lived in Mahahual, I stayed in his hostel.

I introduced the women to Fernando, and he was as always a gracious host. He also did his tequila tasting and lecture about tequila, and the history of tequila, and it was very informative, and the ladies throughly enjoyed it, and the tequila. Fernando gave us numerous tequilas to sample from the worst to the best. I will never look at tequila the same again. If you are in Mahahual go by and see Fernando and have dinner there, and do his tequila tasting, it is very interesting, and you get to sample free tequila.

We had a great meal there, tequila, and some drinks, and it was a nice birthday celebration for Dianne. After dinner we walked back up the malecon, and stopped in to see a friend of mine Dory, who has a place on the beach, where he sells jewelry and souvenirs to tourists. We talked for awhile with him and some of the other vendors there, and the women fit right in with the locals. It then started raining and then we went back to the apartment at the Tropicante and turned in for the evening.

All in all, it was a good day, and we saw a lot of houses and apartments, and had a nice birthday dinner.

Tomorrow, Bacalar and Cenote Azul and the third day of our trip.
