As scheduled, on Thursday Volaris opened the air route which connects Chetumal to Mexico City, which will serve to promote and encourage tourist destinations in the southern part of Quintana Roo.. From Chetumal it is a half hour drive to Mahahual, or about an hour by bus.
Volaris started operations with three weekly flights, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, departing at 12:25 and arriving in Mexico City to Chetumal at 14:25 hours, while back from Chetumal at 14:55 hours to reach Mexico City at 17:05, offering connectivity to over 19 routes within and outside the country.
These flights will help encourage tourism in the southern part of the state of Quintana Roo. It will really help tourism in Mahahual, and also the new water park. These flights will also benefit other tourist destinations like Bacalar, Chetumal, Caldaritas, The Free Zone and others in the area.
These flights will also benefit expats in Belize and southern Quintana Roo, with easier access to the Chetumal airport, and will be an alternative to Cancun.
