Last year I lived on the malecon in Mahahual, and I wrote about the places that I shopped and I ate when I lived there. Now I am living in Villa Caribe over near the port in New Mahahual, (or the Casitas, as some of the locals call it. The article I wrote last year was pretty popular, so today I am going to write about where I shop and eat now.
I am living now over near the port a couple of blocks down from Papi Pizza on the back road to the port. I ride my bike every where and do all of my shopping on my bike. I have a nice big kitchen now, so I don’t eat out as much as I did when I lived on the malecon.
On cruise ship days, I usually eat lunch on the malecon, and stop on my way home to do my shopping. The place I go to almost every day is the one pictured below. It is a couple of blocks from where I live, and they keep my Coke Zero there.
This my daily stop on my way home. They carry my Coke Zero for me, (I hate Coke Light, and Coke Zero is all I drink, so they keep it in the back for me. I also buy all my produce, ham, cheese, fruits, and some other things there.
When I need some American products like Reese’s peanut butter cups, Prego spaghetti sauce, or Kraft macaroni and cheese, and other things, I go to Mini Super Bere.
At Super Bere you can find products like Heinz ketchup, peanut butter, coffee, BBQ sauce, and other hard to get American products here. I get my Reese’s peanut butter cups here and also my Prego sauce. You can also get stuff like Q-tips, and other health products. They also carry meats and ice cream, and products like that also.
These are some of the places I frequent and shop now. There is a lot more variety of stores and restaurants in New Mahahual, compared to when I used to live on the malecon, I like living over near the port now.
