I did not know until yesterday, but Mahahual now has a flea market every other Tuesday. (We call them flea markets where I come from). I was in town yesterday, and I saw a lot of activity in the sports dome near the athletic field in downtown Mahahual, so I went to check it out.
To my surprise I saw a lot of booths with displays of clothes, shoes, toys, pots and pans, and a lot of other household goods. There were vendors selling almost everything you could think of.
I have been in need for some new shorts and bathing suits, so I went to look and shop. I looked around and found some shorts and swim trunks that fit me and were my size. I found four pair that I liked, and I could not decide which to buy, so I bought all four pair. I got four pairs of shorts and swim trunks for 300 pesos, not bad. The shorts I bought were also name brands, and currently in style, I guess.
There was a wide variety of Tupperware, pots and pans, cooking utensils, and a lot of other kitchen supplies. There were also booths with shoes, kids shoes and adults. There were also a lot of women’s and kid’s clothes for sale. Also several booths were selling beauty and cosmetic products.
I talked to one of the ladies who has a booth, and she told me that the flea market will be held every other Tuesday, or twice a month. There was a nice crowd there, and I will be going back in the future to shop.
I think the flea market is good idea because we can now buy stuff here, without having to go to Chetumal. and waste a whole day.
