Happy 4th of July from the Mexican Caribbean

I want to wish everyone out there a happy and safe 4th of July.  Today here in Mahahual, hardly anybody celebrates Independence Day, there are probably only 4 or 5 people, or gringos, from the USA in town now.  In fact, someone asked us the other day what kind of festivities are in Mahahual for the 4th.  I laughed and said nothing.

I probably will go the beach and have hot dogs for lunch to celebrate.  Sit on the beach, and take a swim in the Caribbean.  I also might watch some baseball on my computer, and that is about it.

I am sure glad the month of June is over, I have had a terrible month.  I was homeless and broke for a while, and I had a friend die in Mexico, on his way to come visit here.  So today I am just going to relax on the beach.

I sure do miss good old BBQ from the USA and South Carolina on the 4th.  It seems it is not quite like the 4th without good BBQ.  So enjoy yourselves today, and try not to blow off any fingers with fireworks.  (Seriously, I had a high school classmate die a couple of July 4ths ago by fireworks exploding and hitting him in the chest.  And last year two NFL players lost fingers to fireworks).

happiness in mexico
