If you are looking to get away from it all, and stay in a secluded hideaway on the Caribbean, I have a place for you. It is on the coastal road south to Xcalak, and it is very secluded and private. You can have your own piece of the Caribbean, all to yourself. The property is called Casita Coco, and is owned by Donna Inger and her family. Donna is a from Canada, and plans on retiring in Mahahual eventually.
Casita Coco on the Mexican Caribbean
Secluded Beach Getaway For Two
About this listing
Our one bedroom, one bathroom 1,000 sq. ft. casita is located on the beach road 14 km south of the town of Mahahual, Mexico. We are surrounded by amazing, unspoiled jungle on one side and the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea on the other.
Our remote location offers the convenience of being close enough to town to enjoy the festivities, get supplies and dine in restaurants while being remote enough to give you the freedom of your own private beach.
The apartment is like living in a tree house offering you spectacular views of the aquamarine waters of the Caribbean from one side and fantastic sunsets over the jungle from the other. Not many places offer you the stunning sunrises and sunsets that our casita gets every day, so we’ve provided a large, private rooftop terrace and a private beach area to ensure that you get the best views!
The casita is very clean with open concept kitchen / living room which we have stocked with all the necessities needed to store and prepare food. The living space is a large comfortable area to read on the comfy furniture or take an afternoon siesta in the hammock.
The bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with large shower. It should be noted that the bed is queen size and hangs from the ceiling like a swing. You are certain to enjoy being gently rocked by the cooling breeze of the Caribbean.
The panoramic beauty of the nature found around us is intoxicating. Mornings offer the most spectacular sunrise over the ocean while evenings provide breathtaking sunsets over the jungle.
At night you will be amazed by the light shows of the stars and the fireflies.
The world famous Meso-American coral reef is just 300 ft. from our shore line offering not only fantastic snorkelling, diving and swimming, but also opportunities to catch highly sought after gamefish like Permit and Bonefish right outside your back door.
Our closest neighbour is the charming Almaplena Beach Eco Resort. You can stroll over there via the beach for a drink or meal.
Our property is totally off the grid and electricity is provided by solar and wind energy. It is necessary to conserve energy whenever possible. Drinking water, linens, towels, bathroom tissue, cleaning supplies and a fully equipped kitchen are all supplied.
For your entertainment we offer a small selection of board games, snorkel equipment, boogie boards and wi-fi.
Our 1000 square foot casita is the perfect getaway for two. Located in a separate building from the main house, you will have both privacy and the comfort of English speaking caretakers onsite who will make sure your stay is sublime.
Interaction with Guests
Caretakers Jason and Deidre occupy the main house and can assist you with any questions you may have or make arrangements for fishing, snorkeling or diving trips that may be of interest to you as well as arrange for grocery delivery if needed.
There are a few options in getting here.
– You can take the ADO bus from cancan airport to Mahahual – note there is a bus change in Playa Del Carmen. Approx 400 pesos.
– You can rent a car, the drive from Cancun Airport is about 4.5 hours but much easier than you’d think! (We are 14 km outside of Mahahual so having a car is recommended)
– You can use private shuttle through AGI tours that will take you direct from airport to our door. Approx 265 USD for two people. You would be travelling alone in a large shuttle van. The driver will pick up any time of day or night. Depending on the time of day you arrive, the driver can stop at SAMs Club, Costco or a grocery store to stock up on supplies.
Other Things to Note
