If you want something different to eat, and want to try some authentic Mexican food from Chiapas, you need to stop into D’ Perozzi restaurant in New Mahahual. It is located right next to Solofish, at the corner of Martin’s Super. It is owned and operated by Adrian Urbina Morales.
I have known Adrian a long time, from when I used to work at the port. He has been in Mahahual for twelve years, and he used to work across from me at the port. Adrian did jeep tours, ATV tours, dune buggy tours, and Rhino tours for a company here. When I used to work the Senor Frogs booth at the port, I used to watch him give his safety talk to the tourists. My booth was right next to the dune buggies departure point. Every day I used to listen to the speech he gave the tourists. He would always start off by telling the tourists his name was Adrian like the name in the “Rocky” movies. he would then do his “Yo Adrian” Stallone imitation, which was pretty good I thought, and the tourists would always laugh. I used to watch this routine 2 or 3 times a day, and it never got old.
Well Adrian is originally from Chiapas, and it has been his dream for a long time to open a restaurant in Mahahaual. He wanted to serve food like there is in his home state of Chiapas. The restaurant is open daily from 9am-7pm, and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant serves a wide range of authentic Mexican cuisine, from soups to complete meals.
They also serve a meal of the day at D’ Perozzi for 60 pesos. Here are some of the examples of the meal of the day menu.

They also do a wide range of tortas, sandwiches, tacos, empanadas, and just about anything Mexican style of cuisine you could be looking for. All the port workers eat at Perozzi, so you know it must be good. They also do an American breakfast, eggs, bacon, ham, and coffee. They will also be expanding the menu in the near future.
So if you are wanting some good and economical Mexican cuisine stop in and check out Adrian and his restaurant and try some cuisine straight out of Chiapas.
