About 3 or 4 years ago, I met these guys when I was working at the port. I sold them an ATV tour, and since then, they stop by and see me every time they come here on a cruise ship. These guys have been here the last 3 or 4 years in a row I think. They are from Lexington, Kentucky.
They are nice guys, and big University of Kentucky fans. This year they had to come by and remind me they beat us in football again this year. They sent me an email last week and asked if there was anything they could bring down for me. I am a big University of Kentucky basketball fan, so I told them I would love to have a Kentucky hat to wear during basketball season. I also told them I could not get Tylenol PM here, and that would be good to bring. Well they brought me both, nice guys.
This reminds me of another Kentucky story. About 10 or 15 years ago, me and a couple of friends of mine Kim Cheros and Ron Romano drove to Lexington, Kentucky from Greenville, South Carolina to watch the South Carolina Gamecocks play Kentucky in football. Well we got there and were tailgating with some Kentucky fans, and Kim realizes he forgot our tickets. So just as it looked like we drove 5 hours for nothing, the Kentucky people we were tailgating beside, gave us their tickets and told us to go in and enjoy the game. We left them our cooler of beer and food, and they stayed and partied during the game, which Gamecocks won.. They told me they were just waiting for basketball anyway.
So in my experiences I have always found people from Kentucky to be quite nice and friendly people. I get to meet a lot of nice and friendly people here in Mahahual on cruise ship day. Tomorrow I got a group coming in from Southern Mississippi I think, they come once or twice a year here also. I am always surprised at how many repeat customers we get here in Mahahual off of cruise ships.
